Studio Roosegaarde – Daan Roosegaarde’s new home
October 2, 2006
We’re proud to present, it took us a while but here it finally is:
It’s been this project that kept me, Sylvia and Daan busy with Flash for the last few months. Have a look at it and tell us what you think of it. Be sure to use the latest version of Flash for the best results. https://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer
Studio Roosegaarde isn’t completely finished yet, but it’s close to completion, if you give us good recommendations, they might make it into the “final” website!
We are particularly proud of:
The “blog”.
Read here and here if you want to know more about it.

The Scroller/Rolodex.
A giant rolodex, that troughout the website, takes on different forms and behaviours, sometimes reacting to your mouse, sometimes moving by it’s own will.

The Lines
A set of lines connects you with everything there’s to know about Daan Roosegaarde, Studio Roosegaarde and his Projects. In the near future the lines will bring you project movies.

The search function
The search function allows you to quickly find anything you might want to know about Daan.

And much much more
For Sylvia and me this website is has been a really interesting adventure. It’s unbelievable how far the website has deviated from our initial plans. It has become better then we had dreamed of. During the process of building the website we kept a Blog of the process. The initial plans and sketches are so ugly and unfriendly in comparison to what we have now, it’s scary. But I’m really glad that several times during the building process we’ve had the strength to throw away plans and ideas, leaving the comfort of exactly knowing where and how we wanted to end, and trying more exciting/challenging paths to an unclear goal. This might sound a bit vague to you, maybe I will later post an example of an older version of Studio Roosegaarde, so you can see the radical changes it’s gone through. (I have to discuss this with Sylvia and Daan first.)
Stay tuned to what’s going on

Funky. Freaky. Cool. Stylish.
I’ve no idea what it’s about. But it intrigues.

Thanks Carolyn for taking the time to watch Studio Roosegaarde, I’m glad you like it!
Thanks Nigel T. To make it Freaky was (seriously) one of our goals, glad you notice.
If you want to know what it’s about I think a little reading in the website will do. Maybe the HTML version reads easier.

AWESOME, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Good Webdesign is hard to find and this is definately creative, stunning, and it doesn’t look too “cool” or too “slick”, I personally prefer it to be original and “something different” than the usual vector graphics that’s out there. I love the font! But one thing I must say, I think it would put less strain on the eyes if you gave the text on it a bit more contrast, but as I just noticed this project seems to be already a couple of months old so… WELL DONE!

Hi Julian,
thanks for your enthusiasm! We had lots of fun thinking it up and then building it. And we’re very proud of what we achieved. The website is a work in progress in the sense that it’s still getting minor updates to make it better and better.
I guess your talking about the text on the frontpage. I will take a fresh look at the contrast between those texts and their background. We have to find some sort of a trade off there between dynamic backgrounds and readability. That’s the phase that we’re in right now; Our minor changes to the website are in the details like this. Thanks for pointing it out!

Thank you! =)

Hi Jeesoo,
I think Studio Roosegaarde will be able to meet you.
I forwarded your message to Daan Roosegaarde (the artist that owns the studio), I expect him to reply to you very soon.
